What is required for the 2nd Line Technical Support Engineer role:

  • Must be confident communicating with people by telephone, email and in person
  • Are well-organised, thorough and able to plan and deliver complex projects to tight deadlines
  • Enjoy helping people and working in a team, learning quickly and sharing knowledge
  • Love technology : especially Microsoft (to Windows Server 2012, Exchange Server 2013, Windows 8, Office 2013, Office365) BlackBerry, Apple, antivirus, firewalls (SonicWall and Cisco Meraki especially relevant), networking, backup, virtualisation (Hyper-V)
  • Apple Mac knowledge - Either in a working or personal environment
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred (must be able to provide transcripts)
  • Solid work history

Responsibilities for the 2nd Line Technical Support Engineer:

  • Provide excellent customer service to external clients, up to a senior level
  • Act as an escalation point for technical team
  • Pro-active project contribution / implementation including liaising with clients and colleagues
  • Troubleshoot problems by telephone, remote access and on-site visits
  • Help improve company systems, procedures and knowledge
  • Ad hoc and planned mentoring of technical colleagues
  • System builds, configuration and installation (remote or on-site)
  • Diligent documentation and time-keeping
  • Solution design and research and development for internal and client use
