My client based in Newcastle are looking to appoint an experienced First Line Claims Handler to join their expanding team.

The role will involve first line response to incoming telephone calls and the accurate setting-up of new claims.

-Accurate data recording allowing speedy process of claims through to closure to obtain optimum settlement in accordance with targets and statutory limits.

-Manages inbound telephone calls from policyholders and third party’s in a professional manner to quickly ascertain any liability and move forward in a positive manner encapsulating all the relevant information to reduce any potential costs of the claim

-Makes outbound telephone calls when appropriate to assist in promoting early closure of files.

-Accurate setting up of new claims with all preliminary tasks completed

-Effectively deal with incoming phone calls without having to refer to Back Office Team

You must have:

- Good communication skills.

- Assertive telephone manner to maximise the volume of calls taken.

- Ability to take ownership of possible problem issues

- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision and referrals.

- Good Knowledge of liability issues allowing decisions to be made which are accurate and sustainable.

- Good knowledge of Collingwood’s policy document and the Company’s strategy and procedures relating to it.

- Conversant with the company’s procedures in particular to their reserving and closure policy.

- Ability to identify potentially fraudulent claims

- Pro-active approach to capture third parties by phone
