The day shift element of the role will involve maintaining and supporting the technical infrastructure and LAN, providing support and resolutions to any issues with the network, the computers themselves. The role will also involve the maintenance of servers and switches on a scheduled basis to reduce potential issues. The night shifts will naturally be a little quieter in terms of the volume of incidents reported. You will however; be based in an office with other night shift workers, whilst its quieter they still try to maintain an upbeat working environment. They regularly get takeaways and it is a generally all round good atmosphere, whilst still getting the job done. It is imperative that you have confidence and conviction in your decisions and knowledge base, as it is on your shoulders to decide whether an issue is serious enough to bring the business to its knees, and therefore need to call the whole team in, in the early hours, which you don't want to be doing unnecessarily. Equally, it is about making sure you don't leave this decision too late and actually bring the business to a standstill.
