Job Title: Systems Administrator & Support (2nd & 3rd line)

Location: Staines-Upon-Thames

Salary: 28-40K

Reporting Into: Infrastructure Manager

Our client are a retailer who operate within fuel stations across the UK, they currently run the retail element of over 500 fuel stations. Due to a takeover they are going through an expansion of their IT team, this is an exciting growth phase for the company and they are looking to take all of their IT systems to "cutting edge" status. As such they require a systems administrator with a background in IT Support to join their growing team:

Key responsibilities:

The core responsibility of this role will be to maintain and manage the company’s IT systems. The role will be working as part of a team of c.10 and reporting into the Infrastructure manager. The core responsibilities of the Systems Administrator will include:

  • Supporting 1st line IT technicians, over the phone, via email and face to face
  • The successful IT Administrators responsibilities will also include 2nd line support and escalation beyond this
  • The successful systems administrator will be involved in projects including but not limited to: office 365 rollout, Exchange online migration and windows 2016 roll out
  • Troubleshooting, monitoring, documenting and configuring various: hardware, local networks, antivirus and systems backups
  • At times the role will require the successful candidate to cover the Infrastructure Manager in: working on windows servers and networks as well as new projects and IT builds of varying scope.

As the company are going through their largest ever IT refresh they require a Systems Administrator and support candidate with the following relevant experience:

  • Ideally the candidate will come from a desktop support background of 2/3 years before moving into a systems administrator role
  • Must have a good knowledge of Microsoft systems
  • The systems administrator must have knowledge of networking protocols DHCP & DNS
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • The systems administrator will be required to be infrequently on call at weekends for "critical systems failures"
  • Must have a methodical and logical ability to help technical and non-technical customers
