Our client based in Thame, is a well established and very successful manufacturer of electronic devices. They are looking for a part time (Circa 20 hours per week) accounts assistant / bookkeeper to oversee and facilitate all financial matters concerning the company on behalf of the Directors. You will ensure that the company’s financial responsibilities to HMRC and any other authorities are met and that our people, customers and suppliers are all managed in an effective, legal and honest way.


  1. Keeping accurate financial records, processing income, receipts and payments.
  2. Balancing accounts.
  3. Coding sales and purchase invoices where necessary.
  4. Taking payments from our debtors and manage credit control, ensuing no debt.
  5. Ensuring there is a clear record of financial transactions (income and expenditure) in accordance with organisational and tax authority requirements.
  6. Preparing statements, showing the company income and outgoings.
  7. Paying our creditors, banking money and checking and verifying bank transactions.
  8. Completing VAT returns, tax and National Insurance paperwork, submitting employer payments and forms.
  9. Helping to prepare final accounts, such as profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.
  10. Prepare monthly management accounts. Assist with preparation of budgets.
  11. Issuing, reporting and balancing petty cash.
  12. Preparing payslips and processing of expense claims and other related payroll support.
  13. Support the business with HRM duties such as contract issue for new employees, record keeping for sickness and holidays, reporting this as part of your payroll duties.
  14. Assist with any internal audit required by accountant, authorities.
  15. Reception support, front door and telephone answering and directing calls, when PA unavailable.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Produce and issue management, a weekly debtors and creditors report and monthly with your supporting analysis/insight to enable you and management to make good financial decisions regarding our debtors and creditors.
  2. Provide a monthly cash flow forecast for all company bank accounts, linked with the debtors and creditors activity.
  3. Provide accurate supplier and financial information to Purchasing Coordinator on a monthly basis to ensure he meets his ownKPIs.
  4. Issue all financial data that is required for submission to HMRC or any other legal entity a minimum of 1 week prior to submission deadlines for approval and sign off from a Director.
  5. Provide the Directors with an activity report of your key deadlines and coreworkflow function to enable you to meet and exceed all ongoing deadlines and work demands.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Computer literate, keyboard and numerical skills (including excel to a high level)
  • At least 5 years working within an accounting/bookkeeping environment, qualified to AAT Level 3 or equivalent
  • Honesty and discretion when handling confidential financial information
  • High degree of accuracy, organised and methodical approach to record keeping and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise issues, excellent telephone skills
  • Must have minimum or accounting equivalent GCSE Maths and English
  • Must be able to deal with complicated financial reports and information
  • Accounting administrative software systems, Sage, SAP and or Oracle. Xero,Netsuite.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships(internal/external)
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation

  • Enthusiastic
