A Development Manager is sought to lead the development function within one of the UK's largest privately owned services Companies. The Development Manager is responsible for the software development lifecycle. Ensuring best practice in software development and be responsible for the architecture, development and support of all bespoke software development.

Key responsibilities for the Development Manager

- Define the company software development strategy including architecture, delivery methodology and technology stacks.

- Manage development resources to deliver timely and high quality software.

- Organisation of the development team to ensure visibility of progress.

- Be the key liaison between Project Office and Development.

- Foster an environment of co-operation within the Development team and with the wider business.

- Select and manage relationships with key 3rd party providers.

Critical activities of the Development Manager

- Managing the software development team.

- Liaison with Project Office and wider IT team.

- Taking ownership of initiatives, ensuring buy-in and driving those initiatives through to completion.

- Analysis and architecture of bespoke software environment.

- Consolidation of legacy bespoke software.

- Ensuring good governance of the software development process.

- Working to agreed project processes and contributing towards on-going improvements to these.

Essential skills and experience of the Development Manager

- Previous managerial experience in a software development environment, especially in the .NET stack.

- Ability to coach and mentor the development team to allow them to grow and succeed.

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

- Hands on experience in the software development lifecycle.

- A strong teamwork ethic to work with the Project team and the wider organization.

- Good communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of a business.

- Patient, confident, hardworking and collaborative.

Desirable skills of Development Manager

- Knowledge of Agile development practices.

- Software architecture experience.

- Experience of redesign of legacy software systems.

- Knowledge of project management processes.

- An ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Package available to the Development Manager

- Basic salary £50,000 - £65,000 Subject to experience

- Company Car / Car Allowance
