Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Starting immediately, a FinTech company is looking for an excellent Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join its Operations department for an established Blue Chip client base.

They operate in the Banking, PCI compliant environment, 24/7 transaction based business. They are looking for someone with a deep technical knowledge of Linux, Networking and Virtualization.

You will:

  • Have always worked to automate processes.
  • Be highly responsible.
  • Have potentially led a small team.
  • Have served as an SME in Linux/Virtualization/Networking (at least 2 of these).
  • Have managed and maintained an ISO/SOX/PCI compliant environment of at least 200 servers, from the kernel resources up to the virtualization and physical layers.
  • Have a knack for documentation.
  • Be able to handle pressure.

Essential Knowledge/Skills:

  • Deep experience in deploying and managing resilient and highly secure Linux infrastructures and systems (LAMP stack mainly).
  • At least five years of system administration experience.
  • Great exposure to virtualization (VMware, OpenStack, KVM).
  • Management level understanding of databases and RDBMS (OLAP, OLTP) on MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Percona databases.
  • Scripting (Bash, Perl, others).
  • Great exposure to networking technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade).
  • Knowledgeable on security tools and procedures.
  • Experienced in deploying Configuration Management through tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
  • Completely self-reliant on CI/CD (Ansible, RunDeck, Cobbler, PowerCLI, Bash, Perl, Python), working fully with Infrastructure and application monitoring (Zabbix, Nagios, AppMon, DynaTrace, DataDog, Kibana).
  • Exposed to private/hybrid/public cloud technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of storage.
  • Experience and desire to work in a call rota.

Desirable Knowledge/Skills:

  • Exposure to and management of Windows systems is a huge plus.

Salary £65,000 plus pension, health insurance and on call allowance.
