Business Systems Analyst (Relational Databases, Analyst, C#, SOAP, Web Services,Problem Solving,Business Analyst

• The Business Systems Analyst’s primary objective is to help the businesses
implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the technical
requirements of a change or project, and communicating them clearly to
stakeholders, facilitators and partners.

• This may include developing or recommending technical solutions to business
problems by defining, analysing and documenting requirements and solution options,
including carrying out intensive research and deep analysis.

• Other duties and responsibilities of the role include:

Data analysis, including mapping as-is data flows and identifying to-be data flows
and schemas.

o Document any required technical changes, and communicating them to the relevant customers/colleagues.

o Owning technical data flow processes where data flows between systems supported by different Application Teams (including externally), acting as the ‘glue’ to bind cross platform technical analysis.

o Using IT resources to create IT solutions, enabling the organisation to better meet its goals.

o Advising senior management.

o Training staff in how to use the new systems.

• The role will also include working with IT Project Management, Design and Test
teams to drive the design or review of test cases, process change requests, and
manage a project’s scope, acceptance, installation and deployment.

As the Business Systems Analyst you will be responsible for:

1. Facilitate solution scoping to assist in business priority-setting for change initiatives.

2. Take responsibility for investigative work to determine and validate business
requirements and help specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and
organisation change.

3. Analyse business requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to
business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.

4. Select the most appropriate means of translating business and functional
requirements into a Technical specification, ensuring trace-ability of solutions back to source.

5. Support the building of a clear business system roadmap for each business unit and
Connect as a whole.

6. Develop and build strong relationships within the business and ensure that the
provision of new IT systems is in line with their strategic goals.

7. Manage ambiguity, set a direction and work with the business to come to decisions.

8. Assist in fault finding by tracing functionality and data between systems,
documenting as appropriate.

9. From requirements, seek effective business solutions through improvements in
automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and

10. Prepare business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these
benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated
business risks.

11. Work iteratively with test teams to identify potential options for consideration, and in
defining acceptance tests.

12. Oversee solution design and implementation in conjunction with IT Project

13. Liaise with the rest of the IT team to schedule workload.

14. Provide an open communication link between the internal IT Solution teams, IT
partners and the wider business to ensure the delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions.

17. Present proposals back to IT management for changes to meet & improve system

Essential skills and experience required in:

• Broad technical understanding of IT engineering concepts

• Good familiarity with Relational Database concepts and understanding of ETL
interfacing principles (SOAP, REST, Web Services, etc.)

• Planning and working flexibly to a deadline

• Ability to work effectively in a team

• Written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills

• The ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis

• Ability to manage ambiguity, set a direction and work with the business to come to decisio
