The Organisation:

Our client builds large-scale, bespoke, business-critical systems for some of the world’s most high-profile organisations. With a continued expansion they have exciting opportunities for Technical Project Managers throughout the United Kingdom across Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and Central London.

The Role:

This position with allow you to own client relationships outright and take responsibility for end-to-end project delivery. You will be comfortable in being instrumental leading project teams and staying intimate to detail across software development processes.

  • Primary focus for this Head of Delivery, you’ll be accountable for ensuring that all project engagements are managed; within an acceptable level of risk, to a standard expected by their clients and to continuously have good quality client management in place;

  • Whilst you will be an active, hands on consultant within the delivery function, you’ll be expected to deliver strategic initiatives contributing to the development of the business;

  • Essentially we are looking for you to be hands-on and client-facing with good technical knowledge, commercial awareness and the ability to develop opportunities for business growth.

The Individual:

  • A relevant university degree;

  • Strong commercial experience in a significant software-based technical project management role;

  • A track record of managing multiple software development streams;

  • Strong technical expertise in modern object-oriented software development technologies (such as Java EE, .NET or HTML5) and the full software development process would be an advantage;

  • Solid people skills and proficiency in the management and motivation of high quality software development teams;

  • Hands on experience managing projects based on Agile methods, preferably Scrum, as well as a good understanding of both Agile and Waterfall-based project delivery methods;

  • An understanding of the governance required of enterprise-level projects;

  • First class communication, presentation and customer relationship management skills;

  • Ability and flexibility to travel to other offices as well as Client sites within the UK and overseas as on occasion

It would also be great if you have:

  • A hands on background in software development, business analysis or technical project management

  • Business development and bid management experience;

  • Financial services experience;

  • Previous experience in a consultancy would be icing on the cake

  • Evidence of project management competency (such as PRINCE2 Practitioner status, PMI or ScrumMaster) would be beneficial
