IT Database Manager - Bracknell, Berkshire

Working for a truly global brand our client is seeking an experienced Database Manager to manage the Database team, which encompasses the development and implementation of Data as well as the technical management and maintenance of the database and surrounding infrastructure.

To lead the company through the GDPR process as the primary point of contact for all other departments within the company. Be accountable for sharing best practice with there network and retained agencies with a responsibility for their activity relating to customer and personal data.

You must have cutting edge database knowledge, relationships with industry bodies like DMA and ICO, and have worked closely with internal/external legal teams. Ideally you are an experienced Database manager with an understanding of database solutions, platforms and knowledge of how the database links with wider communications platforms like websites, events and media buying in order to track customer engagement and interests.

Knowledge, skills and experience required

      • Technical database expertise with significant experience in extracting data to support customer journey planning.
      • Specialism in understand the requirements for GDPR.
      • Experience in modelling methodologies.
      • A thorough understanding of relational databases.
      • Faststats skills preferred, but not essential.
      • A proven record of accomplishment of driving positive activity through a team and external partner suppliers.
      • Project management experience
      • Able to manage a multi-million-pound budget
      • Skilled in translating technical detail into business language.
      • Extremely well organised, able to plan, manage and execute several diverse projects at once.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be the commercial lead for GDPR. You will be the main stakeholder for legal, and advisor to the entire UK business about GDPR compliance and the necessary steps required to meet legislative change and prevent future business risk. Co-ordinate business response. Ensure all legislation related to database is understood by the database operations section manager so accurate timely technical change is undertaken.

  • Brief then analyse database extracts and turn them into commercial insight which informs high level business decisions. Use insight to influence stakeholders on decisions such as volume risk, media investment requirements and CRM journeys.

  • Using database insight, create customer and prospect profiles which inform the business on a timely basis about who to target for sales. Influence stakeholders to refine their activity to reflect specific and accurate customer groupings in order to increase business efficiency and ROI.

  • Work with the CRM manager to refine the customer journey based on improving ROI, and implementing a new and effective customer journey for bikes, power and aftersales based on database insight and the most powerful customer touch points to generate sales.

  • Primary point of contact between Head Office, the field team and Network on any activity relating to database or the provision of data. Educate these stakeholders on effective data management and the utilisation of data to grow sales.

  • Lead, manage and support a team of four direct reports, and an indirect agency structure to deliver against your objectives. Lead the team to be 100% commercially focused on our biggest database business opportunities.

  • Responsibility for managing the Database budget. Review activity ROI to ensure effective spend at all times.

  • Manage database reporting including the provision of business friendly information on database opportunity.
