Job Title: Network Analyst

Location: Ipswich

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 + bonus + benefits

I have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Network Analyst with my client based in Ipswich. My client is specialist provider of energy to the commercial and private sector with an excellent reputation from a customer service and product perspective.

Due to continued growth they currently have a need to recruit an experienced Network Analyst to join there IS Operations team based in their head office in Ipswich. Reporting to the IS Operations Team Leader, the Network Analyst will manage the companies network, telephony and communication infrastructure to provide a stable, secure and resilient environment. Working within a small team you will be the network specialist working closely with the wider infrastructure team and being the go to person for all networking issues. It is a great opportunity for someone to come assess their current network infrastructure and look to make improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, voice gateways, wireless, load balancers, appliance servers and telecommunications system supporting P0-P4 service
  • Mentoring other technical staff including IS Operations, 2nd line and Service Desk
  • Assist in formulation of the IT budget
  • Assist in planning, managing and undertaking projects to deliver new network, security, telephony and communication infrastructure services
  • Co-ordinate networking activities to ensure delivery of all services to agreed service level targets and to maintain procedures for service level monitoring
  • Ensure availability and security of the network infrastructure due to adequate security systems and mechanisms, pro-active monitoring, resilient technical design and effective capacity planning
  • Identification and remediation of network vulnerabilities
  • Act as technical mentor to other IS staff
  • Monitoring and backup of all network infrastructure
  • Monitoring of security appliances and performance of any remedial actions identified by Haven Power or Group Security function
  • Management of remote access solutions, e.g. VPN's
  • Management of third party suppliers and vendor relationships
  • Contribute to Business Continuity Planning and ensure IT Disaster recovery is planned and tested for all services

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a medium to large enterprise environment
  • Good understanding of network and security technologies and processes
  • Good Knowledge of TCP/IP including routing protocols, management protocols, IPSEC VPN's, SSL etc
  • Good knowledge of Layer 2 and 3 switching and load balancing technologies
  • Knowledge of ADSL and SDSL DSLAMS and broadband technologies Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks in an enterprise environment
  • Firewall set up, maintenance, and support experience
  • Knowledge of VoIP and IP telephony solutions, ideally Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM, CUCME, Unity) and Avaya IP Office
  • Experience with managing corporate wireless networks, preferably Cisco solutions
  • Cisco CCNA certified (or currently working towards)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP including routing protocols, management protocols, IPSEC VPN's, SSL
  • Excellent routing, switching and voice skills
  • VPN Remote Access Technologies
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Good communication skills enabling interaction with all levels of the business (including written and oral communication where appropriate)
