Deputy Housekeeper ( Care Home)

HWL Care Home in Brentwood Essex is seeking a Full-Time Deputy Housekeeper with the ability to prioritise domestic duties within the home. Knowledge of laundry fabrics and equipment would be an advantage. Health & Safety and COSHH training.

Accountable to: The Chairman and Directors

Report to: The Manager/ Deputy Manager/ Assistant Manager/ Team Leader

Main Responsibility:

  • The role of Deputy Housekeeper is one primarily of support for the Housekeeper to ensure standards are maintained and policies and procedures followed.
  • Monitoring of the food service given to our residents and the overall cleanliness of the Home is vital with maintaining the standards expected.
  • Responsibilities will include monitoring and supervision of staff along with following the correct auditing procedures. Therefore, the majority of the shift will be floor based.
  • The weekly contracted hours are 36. These hours will be tailored to suit the needs of the home and support the Housekeeper and team. Shift patterns can change at very short notice.
  • The Housekeeper and Deputy Housekeeper will take joint responsibility for covering absence throughout the week within the Ancillary Team.
  • This post will include being on call alternate weekends - This will involve either coming in to work or being contactable by phone.
  • However, if someone from the Ancillary team goes sick and there is no-one to cover, as the on call person you will be expected to come in and work that shift. You will either be paid the extra hours or take the time back in lieu.
  • The Deputy Housekeeper will take overall responsibility for the Ancillary Team and the running of the department in the absence of the Housekeeper. This will include A/L and other absences.
  • The Deputy Housekeeper will be expected to communicate effectively with our residents, other work colleagues and visitors to the home.
  • This will include dealing with concerns promptly, effectively and using your initiate in remaining pro-active.
  • Communication with the Housekeeper, Manager and Deputy of the Home is vital in this role.

Hours per week: 36.00

Salary: £17,784 - £18,720 per annum ( negotiable)
