Are you a superbly talented visual designer who likes to be included in the holistic experience rather than just buttons and icons?
Are you hankering to work with other UX talent to provide the ultimate design solution to represent a surprising and fun brand?
Are you looking for a role that stretches across all channels and devices?

The UX team at Argos is growing and we need a Lead Visual Designer. It’s a challenging role; still very hands on and part of an agile team but with the additional responsibility of managing a team of 7 Visual Designers plus ensuring the quality of work we produce, the processes we use and working side by side with the Lead UX Architect to ensure a consistent experience across all of our channels and functions - that’s responsive, native and store devices. We’re an agile organization and truly customer focused/driven – and we move fast (yup – seriously - it’s a corporate world…. but we push hard). You’ll need to be flexible, open to change and have smart design solutions beyond just thinking just beyond the pixels.

The Lead Visual Designer is an exceptional designer with extensive experience in both responsive web and mobile apps. You understand that an interface is the convergence of functionality, content, context, interaction, technology and brand. Your eye for detail is guided by your understanding of the bigger picture. You are an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who puts our customers first.

You will support the Head of UX in delivering strategic creative solutions to drive the Argos brand and digital experience forward and ensure that all work undertaken by the UX team is executed to the highest standards.

All applicants must provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates their ability to deliver a first-class User Experience

You:

Experienced art director with a track record of supervising teams of visual designers
An exceptional Brand advocate - a highly conceptual thinker who can work across the business and translate to the digital channels
Enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver insight-driven solutions, advocate design solutions and gain stakeholder buy in.
Worked on large scale projects with the ability to converge design solutions and functions together
Understand that admin is part of the role – we need style guides, coaching and a strong governance hand to ensure the brand is represented appropriately throughout the business.

The role:

The successful candidate is a hands on role with the additional responsibility of managing the other visual design team members, the quality and consistency of the graphical design direction and asset production. You will be responsible for:

Drive striking, innovative and coherent UI design across our platforms and products (responsive web, store browsers and mobile apps). Demonstrate creative and strategic thinking, whilst being able to execute pixel perfect design that is detailed and thorough.
Support the Head of UX in delivering strategic creative solutions to drive the Argos brand and digital experience forward and ensure that all work undertaken by the Visual Designers is executed to the highest standards
Career & management responsibilities for the Visual Designers team
