About the role
We are looking for a talented internal communication specialist to join the British Red Cross corporate communications team, for a nine month period from July 2017. This key role will support the communications and engagement of staff and volunteers through work on a range of internal programmes and projects.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of internal and corporate communications and excellent writing and presentation skills. They will be able to develop and deliver communication plans that support the organisation's priorities and engage our people. To do this role well you will be adept at growing relationships and creating engaging content with key internal partners including technical and operational teams based across the UK. The role holder will also lead on delivering some of our key news channels, so will need to be used to delivering primarily digital communications in a fast paced environment.

Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We also teach first aid skills.

About the team
The role of corporate events officer sits within the Corporate Communications department which is part of the Communications and Engagement directorate. The directorate tells the stories about who we are, what we do, what we believe, and the difference we make to people's lives - so that both externally and internally people act, behave, or make decisions in a way that results in a positive change for people in crisis.

About the person

  • Experience of internal and corporate communications and knowledge management within a large and/or complex organisation
  • Client-focussed working
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Strong understanding of internal and corporate communications
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop and implement internal and corporate communication plans to support organisational priorities
  • Good working knowledge of digital media
  • Working in a fast-moving deadline driven environment
  • Experience of working with volunteers
