The Down stands 97m high and the views from the top are truly spectacular, looking out over the Bristol Channel towards south Wales and over the Somerset Levels. What you'll be doing

With your love of leading people and ambition to deliver an exceptional service, you’ll work with the Catering & Retail Manager to manage the day to day operation of our retail and catering offer. Through supervising and motivating our staff and volunteers you’ll ensure the team are engaged to exceed customer service expectations, and are proud to talk about the amazing work the National Trust are carrying out, with the money that is invested at our property.

You’ll work with all teams across your property to ensure the catering and retail aspects are an integral part of the visitor experience. Harnessing ideas from customer feedback and identifying new opportunities to drive income, you’ll make sure our offer reflects our unique spirit of place and that we can deliver stretching financial targets.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to;

    • Have good people management skills, including setting personal objectives and providing feedback

    • Have good people skills enabling effective relationships externally and internally to be built and maintained

    • Have good written and verbal communication skills including influencing and negotiating

    • Be willing to embrace central initiatives in menu development and procedures

    • Have a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service

    • Have a track record of developing the catering offer and achieving performance targets

      And you'll be able to demonstrate the following experience on your CV;

    • Practical experience of catering best practice including the production and service of good quality food and drink

    • City and Guilds level 2/3 or equivalent

    • Previous management of budgets, increasing income and controlling costs including stock and waste management

    • Knowledge of all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety compliance requirements

    • IT skills, previous experience with catering management systems an advantage
