Our client is a leading consulting engineering company who are looking for Principal Civil Engineer to join the team. This role is to help the future growth strategy and success of the team.

The Civil Engineering team specialises in providing high level advice through to detailed design and construction supervision relating to Highways; Drainage; Flood Risk, Protection and Alleviation; and Co-ordination on Residential, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments.

Clients include house builders, residential and commercial land developers, public authorities and they provide highway/drainage engineering design into multi-disciplinary projects often supporting other disciplines.

This role will be to lead development plans or support planning applications, and detailed designs and preparation of construction drawings and other documentation. You will lead and be supported by a team of technical staff, across all grades, and can expect to work on a number of projects at any given time.


-You will have a good knowledge of the design, design software, and the provision of highways, drainage and utilities in new developments and regeneration projects.


-Will be responsible for managing the production of technical design information including reports, drawings and specifications for the infrastructure associated projects.

-Working directly with key customers to identify needs for solutions and delivery of such solution.

-The successful candidate will be managing and supporting the supervision of junior team members.

-Expected to be checking of design information and reports prepared by other engineers in the team.

-Assist with the production of proposals for new commissions, and undertaking project management and financial control of small to medium sized projects

Essential Skills and Experience:

-Experience in the design and project management of roads and drainage for residential, commercial and retail developments and will be responsible for the production of detailed design information, technical reports, drawings, tender documents and specifications.

-Demonstrate experience and proficiency of industry standard software including Windes, PDS, AutoCAD, Civils 3D etc.

-Demonstrate experience using design standards such as Sewers for Adoption, Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and BSEN Standards

-Proven examples in successful design delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure to adoptable standards including the successful negotiation of Section 104, Section 38 and Section 278 Agreements are required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

-Significant professional experience within the Infrastructure discipline.

-An awareness of the importance of the complementary Ridge skills, such as transportation planning, geo-environmental, flood risk assessment, drainage design and cut & fill analysis skills is desirable.
