The Pensions Regulator (TPR) is the UK regulator of workplace pension schemes. They make sure that employers put their staff into a pension scheme and pay money into it. They also make sure that workplace pension schemes are run properly so that people can save safely for their later years.
Your new role
You will support the media relations manager, communications colleagues, and colleagues across TPR. You will play an active role in delivering the media relations team's work to enhance and defend TPR's corporate reputation through proactive media engagement. You will take ownership for particular subject areas and projects relating to TPR's key corporate priorities (such as the regulation of defined benefit, master trusts and public service pension schemes and the roll-out of automatic enrolment to small and micro employers.) Playing a leading role in shaping and delivering TPR's campaign messages via the media you will produce high-quality press releases, articles, social media posts, media engagement plans and briefing material.
What you'll need to succeed
An experienced media relations professional with a proven track record of working as a team player in a busy press office or in the PR industry. You should have the ability to translate technical policy issues into engaging, concise and accurate written media material, using a strong news judgement. The ability to handle challenging media situations to tight deadlines and firmly rebut inaccurate reporting if required. You will have a creative approach to media relations techniques using all available channels including social media and audio/visual. Do you have the ability to to advise, influence and persuade others, often at senior levels, to ensure TPR is positioned as a bold and effective regulator?
