Group Finance Manager, Media, Central London, £65,000

Our client is an award winning UK-based multi-platform content group that inspires and enables people to excel at what they do, setting the standard for market insight, interaction and impact. We are recruiting for a Group Finance Manager to join their Central London office.


As Group Finance Manger, you will support the Group Financial Controller (GFC) and Group Finance team in providing accurate, timely and insightful reporting both internally and externally. You will have a key role in drafting key management reporting deliverables, including year-end investor packs, monthly management accounts packs and board packs, as well as driving improvements in the quality of financial analysis following the implementation of a new accounting system during 2015.


  • Delivery of internal management reporting including Group monthly management accounts and re-forecasts, KPI measures, budgets and long-term plans;
  • Delivering external reporting as part of the group reporting team (5 people), including Plc half-year and year-end reporting, compliance and subsidiary accounts;
  • Preparation of investor presentations for the half year and year end as well as supporting analysis for the Chief Financial Officer;
  • Partnering with other members of the finance department to provide ad-hoc reports and information to the Chief Financial Officer, Commercial Finance Director and Group Financial Controller among others;
  • Driving improvements in internal reporting and financial insight following the implementation of a new finance system during 2015 (Agresso);
  • Key part of the team establishing and maintaining robust controls, accounting policies and best practice across the finance function;
  • Responsibility for accounting for the Group’s banking arrangements including managing compliance with the Banking Facility’s reporting requirements; and
  • Managing ad-hoc projects both inside and outside areas of expertise, in line with business needs and continuous improvement objectives.


Key candidate attributes that are required or are highly desirable are set out below:

  • Qualified ACA accountant with post qualification experience;
  • Technically excellent, having worked in public accountancy practices with the ability to analyse complex issues in a timely manner;
  • Commercial mind-set, with the ability to analyse results and trends and present clear and concise commentaries;
  • Significant experience of external financial reporting;
  • Comfortable using a variety of software applications. Experience of Agresso desirable;
  • Confident and self-motivated;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Continuous improvement mind-set, open to challenge and be challenged;
  • Excellent multitasking, prioritisation and time management skills;
  • Ability to build strong working relationships both within the team and when working with stakeholders in the wider business; and
  • Media sector experience advantageous but not essential.


  • All internal and external reporting requirements delivered accurately and on time, with insightful analysis allowing users to understand and interpret the group’s results;
  • Compliance and control environment effectively maintained and improved upon;
  • Projects delivered on time adding to the effectiveness of the finance function and wider business;
  • Strong working relationships built across the Finance department and wider business leading to successful and smooth introduction of improvement measures; and
  • Mentoring and coaching more junior members of the Finance department, spreading knowledge and best practice within the team.
