Morgan Hunt are working with a Further Education College in London to recruit for a Head of Department for Supported Learning on a permanent basis. Reporting into Director of Adult and Functional Skills you will develop and manage the SEN provision.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that support for learners with SEN leads to success for individual learners either in terms of development of life skills, qualifications and completion of course or job outcomes.

Some of the main responsibilities for the role are:

  • Lead and manage both the Supported Learning team, ensuring that staff are trained, and motivated to meet the objectives and priorities of the College
  • Monitor and develop the quality and effectiveness of teaching and standards of performance within Supported Learning in line with College policies
  • Liaise with the Head of English & Maths to share expertise, information and best practice and to plan training and development opportunities to support learner and College success
  • Develop, with the Directors and other Senior Managers as appropriate, the course portfolio of the school

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Degree level qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade A - C) or equivalent level (level 2)
  • Experience/knowledge of a wide range of difficulties/disabilities
  • Previous experience of managing staff and budgets
