Have you got the X Factor? Have you perfected your pantomime "He's behind you"? Do you know your queen from your king in chess? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then you should apply for this opportunity immediately as you will get on so well with the people we support!

We are currently looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers and are looking for a female support worker to join us in Taunton. As a female support worker with us you will be supporting people with a learning disability.

You don`t really need to have any of the above interests/skills but you do need to answer yes to the below questions:

  • Are you enthusiastic, supportive and positive?
  • Do you like to help and ensure that people live the life they want to lead?
  • Are you looking for a fun and motivated company who offer genuine career opportunities?

You will be responsible for the day to day livelihood of these individuals and will help with medication, finances and daily living tasks. These individuals like to be fully involved in everything that is happening with their lives and need you to ensure this happens for them.

Another big part of being a support worker is being a big part of the fun! You should expect to be involved in watching the X-Factor, playing chess, cooking, visiting the pantomime, or even visiting a day centre. Creating memories is one of the really rewarding parts of being a support worker.

The people we support have created a profile about what they want from their support worker, please have a look at this on the additional details tab.

Support workers must be flexible in the hours they can work, as support can be required 24 hours a day. You will work on a rota basis throughout the week, weekends and bank holidays with sleep-ins as well.

One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
