Sales Support & National Accounts Executive

£20,000 + Bonus

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide administrative support to the National Accounts department whilst learning the business, our areas of expertise and the markets we operate in.

Once these areas have been mastered and the necessary improvements and efficiencies have been implemented, the next stage is to combine the administrative function with a more sales focused role.

INITIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To support the National Accounts department within their job functions, this will encompass but is not limited to the following: • Dealing with existing and new customer enquiries both by telephone and email • Processing, confirming and coordinating customer orders including liaising with buyers, supply chain departments and logistics providers • Liaising effectively with internal finance / purchasing / technical / transport departments and external partners • Updating and maintaining customer records and databases • Maintaining accurate price lists on ERP system in accordance with contractual pricing • Monitoring departmental debtors and, where necessary, chasing overdue debt • Producing regular sales and stock run out analysis • Providing support with customer tenders and bid submissions • Preparing reports, documents, letters and presentations • Arranging samples and coordinating delivery to customers • Taking minutes at relevant meetings and ensuring action points are completed within the agreed timeframes • Diary management including arranging meetings, travel and accommodation • Coordinating departmental marketing activity and assisting with updating social media platforms • Researching market trends / competitor activity • Identifying and implementing improvements and efficiencies to existing processes • Providing cover for and / or additional support to other departments where required ONGOING ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To manage and develop sales within the UK Foodservice sector, this will encompass but is not limited to the following: • Achieving a predetermined sales budget through managing sales of a wide range of seafood, meat and poultry lines into a portfolio of existing customers • Producing and distributing regular price lists for all customers • Researching, identifying and targeting potential new customers within a predetermined market sector • Effectively presenting the company to prospective customers • Winning profitable new business in line with departmental criteria • Building strong working relationships with both existing and prospective customer accounts • Understanding customer needs and market trends and reporting on them to the purchasing department • Providing support to the National Account Manager in the day to day managing of certain key accounts


Educated in Maths, English and IT to higher level GCSE or equivalent • Previous experience in a similar role is not essential but would be preferred


Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person, in writing and over the phone • Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team and autonomously • Highly organised with a proactive and flexible approach to work • Effective time management skills with the ability to multi task and prioritise workload • Work towards and meet both internal and external deadlines • Good attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work under pressure • In depth working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and able to quickly learn to use in house ERP system • Willingness to understand and meet customer requirements • Full driving license

LOCATION: Office based - Five Ways, central Birmingham HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
