Job Purpose:The Assistant Manager (AM) is the Centre Principals assistant and as such is responsible for the management of the XMOT/service/repair centre and accountable for performance in all areas including, but not limited to, people, operations, profit, sales, and administrative duties. The Assistant Manager is also expected to spend time within service bays with their centre team, training, motivating & assisting (*due to managing a smaller site, all roles are multifunctional and therefore successful applicants must be qualified MOT Testers/Technicians). The AM will also ensure that at all times the highest level of customer service is maintained both personally and from your team. You will be required to continually promote IN'n’OUT Centres Ltd ethos, offers and platinum card sales.


  • To assist the Centre Principal in consistently achieving sales and operating profit targets
  • To assist with the drive of quality & consistency of customer service and retention performance
  • To ensure transaction and customer satisfaction targets are achieved
  • To effectively manage people, time and resources to build strong recognition and reputation for IN'n’OUT
  • Responsible for the delivery of the IN'n’OUT experience to each and every customer or visitor within the centre
  • Responsible for staff ratios and placement/deployment of crew to ensure both speed and customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Involvement in centre development, including PR and marketing
  • Perform all open & close processes
  • Create weekly schedules/rotas
  • Complete all banking
  • Follow and promote all company health and safety policies
  • Conduct crew meetings including daily sales updates
  • Complete or assist with all daily, weekly & monthly accounting processes
  • In the absence of the Centre Principal take responsibility for P&L targets
  • Complete monthly inventory processes
  • Assist with the order and management of stock
  • Manage and assist with customer complaints
  • To carry out any other reasonable task as requested by your line manager
  • You will arrive before centre opening hours (7:45am)
  • You will adhere to company policies relevant to personal appearance (uniform will be provided)

Person Specification


Education & Training

Experience of 'people leadership & management’

MOT Testing License

- BTEC, NVQ or equivalent in Engineering

- 'People Management’

- 2+ years previous Mechanical experience

- 2+ years MOT Testing

- 2+ years previous supervisory/management experience
