Head of Marketing, Events, West London, £74k + bonus & benefits.

This is an excellent chance to join a FTSE 100 company and market leading media and events business.

They now have an exciting opportunity within the marketing department of their world leading travel event portfolio. You will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction and development of the Marketing, PR, Conference, Digital and associated programmes and teams across the event portfolio.

As an articulate, creative and enthusiastic Head of Marketing, you will have experience in developing marketing and event strategies, leading a marketing team and managing multiple events in a b2b environment. Experience within the travel or events sector would be advantageous

Key responsibilities:

Strategic growth and protection of existing business

• Strategic planning and branding across portfolio of events to include global portfolio business strategy and the overall marketing and PR strategy

• In conjunction with Portfolio Director, create a clear internal vision and strategy for the portfolio

• Lead the brand development and global rollout in conjunction with REPSA

• Identify programmes, and content that support the strategic direction of the events, the value proposition and the brand

• Work with stakeholders and customers to identify needs and develop the event portfolio content and value proposition to meet those needs

• Help and advise events’ Marketing Manager and Exhibition Director to create clear marketing and communications strategy for each event

• Lead the development across all digital portfolio offerings including WTM.com

• Achieve growth in visitor and buyer attendance across the portfolio

• Ensure attendee satisfaction levels increase

• Improve buyer quality

• In conjunction with Portfolio Hosted Buyer Manager to develop global hosted buyer strategy and that of individual events.

• Develop VIP Buyers Club Strategy for the portfolio and ensure co-ordination with Hosted Buyer Programmes

• Identify visitor and exhibitor motivators and develop programs to improve customer experience

• Identify and nurture long term partnerships with key industry players

• In conjunction with event Exhibition Director and Marketing Manager, ensure the content of the online offering, exhibition and conference within each event is integrated and meets the needs of the audience

• Develop Content programme strategy cross portfolio

• Attend and represent the business at competitor and industry events

Generating New Business

• Identify new market sectors to grow the portfolio of events organically or by acquisition

• Increase event reach through digital platforms and brand extensions

• Develop plans which will increase value added revenues

• Develop new initiatives and implement across the portfolio

Marketing & Communications

Digital Marketing, Social media and communities, e-revenues, portfolio brand guidelines, PR

• Provide creative vision and direction for the marketing team

• Manage the marketing team to create effective marketing plans and campaigns that will deliver customer engagement and increase exhibitor leads and visitor and delegate attendance

• Consistently evaluate marketing execution against event/brand strategy

• Ensure team delivers marketing best practice

Financial Responsibility

• Ensure MM are competent in their budgetary control of all marketing, PR and Research spend on all products online and offline

• Responsibility for any portfolio budget

• Help Identify additional offline and online revenue opportunities and cost savings

Management Responsibility

• Liaises and prioritises with internal customers (Portfolio Directors, Exhibition Directors and Exhibition Managers)

• Providing necessary management reporting

Team management and leadership

• Lead and development of team

• Directly manage the Marketing and Communications team noted above

• Sets performance and learning objectives for all senior Marketing staff

• Motivates individuals through praise, delegation, feedback, support and coaching and tackles performance issues

• Identifies and plans training and development activities. Supports team members in planning career development and long term personal goals

• Recruit marketing/telesales staff

Ideal candidate profile:

This position requires an articulate, enthusiastic, creative, hardworking team player with a proven track record in marketing & communications preferably in the events industry who can demonstrate the following:
• A strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
• Proven analytical and communication skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in budget and people management
• Ability to think and work strategically
• Good knowledge of event marketing, e-strategy and social media
• Ability to act as liaison between technical departments and show teams
• This position will also require some overseas travel
