Places for People Leisure are proud to have been chosen to run the new leisure facility in Sparkhill on behalf of Birmingham Borough Council. The new state of the art leisure centre, due to open in June 2017, and will include a 80 station gym, 25m 6 lane pool, teaching pool,  sauna and steam room, group workout studios, extensive wet and dry changing areas and a café.

What your role will be

We are recruiting for a Maintenance Technician reporting to the General Manager, to deliver a high level of service, comfort and safety for users of the centre. You will be your responsibility to ensure that all equipment and facilities are fully functioning, keeping the safety of members and colleagues at the forefront of everything that you do. This is an exciting time to join a completely new team in setting the standards for how Places for People Leisure deliver leisure services to the local community. As part of the leisure team tasked with launching this centre on day one.

The opening times are Monday to Friday 5:45am – 10:30pm and Saturday 6:30am – 7:30pm – there is flexibility of your working hours and you will be entitled to an on-call allowance.

Your background

The successful applicant will have experience of working within a maintenance role, ideally with a trade qualification. You must have an awareness of health and safety especially within a public spaces. You will need excellent communication skills as you will be required to liaise with and manage external contractors. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate at interview your excellent customer service skills and experience.
