Head of Quality & Product Engineering - based in Crewe - Manufacturing Company

Client Details

We are currently recruiting a Head of Quality & Product Engineering for a global, market leading and expanding manufacturing organisation based in Crewe.


Reporting to the General Manager, as Head of Quality & Product Engineering you will have full autonomy for the management and leadership of both the Product Engineering and Quality teams. The responsibility covers everything from;

Achieving productivity targets, quality levels, ensuring exemplary health and safety of your team and delivering all this at the minimum costs.

The main focus for this role is to be responsible for driving Lean and Continuous Improvement activity across the business. You will manage the quality systems engineering and product engineering teams.

To do this you will need to train, coach and engage employees in lean thinking and methodologies, in order to deliver business improvements and ensure key deliverables are met and exceeded wherever possible.

They are looking for someone to improve all Quality systems

Look after the after sales and warranty to help reduce costs

Drive and support the Successful roll out, implementation, stabilization and improvement of quality, warranty and product engineering systems, whilst strengthening and supporting a reliable route cause analysis process within operations


As Head of Quality & Product Engineering you must have considerable exposure to the following:

Must have a combination of managing both Quality and Mechanical Engineering teams.

Experienced in working in a JIT environment dealing with demanding OEM customers would be useful

Profound knowledge of rail products and their acceptance criteria.

Experience dealing with Product Assurance

Profound knowledge of Problem solving techniques

Experience / understanding of using LEAN tools and improvement techniques

Experience working in a complex SME environment

The ability to prioritise workloads and volumes

Candidates must be from an industrial manufacturing, automotive, rail or aerospace / defence background

Lead auditing experience

Must have a degree or equivalent in Engineering

Six Sigma Qualified would be advantageous

Job Offer

£60,000 to £70,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits package
