Senior Data Analyst
Based in the heart of the City of London, our client is an established and growing Underwriting Agency, registered at Lloyds and conducting business in North America and across the globe.
They are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to support their people, particularly the experienced underwriters. Whilst the role is defined below, they are looking for someone who is numerical, inquisitive, collaborative, and personable. Our client requires someone who can work alone yet is also a team player. An individual who can set their own daily and weekly priorities based upon the business needs that are presented in a fast moving environment.
You will have the opportunity to help shape projects and will need to be very comfortable dealing with senior members of staff. Clearly you will have excellent MS office skills / IT skills and be willing to learn new tools such as RESQ, and perhaps build your own robust models within Access and Excel.
Interpreting insurance data, analysing and explaining the results, using statistical pricing and reserving techniques, and providing ongoing reports. Identify, analyse, and spot trends or patterns in data sets.
Design (with documentation) and implement databases, data collection systems, MI reports, data analytics and other strategies that support the business. Understand the business, from both the underwriting and claims adjusting perspectives, so that you are in an excellent position to influence it. Think laterally and consider acquiring data from different and external sources.
Filter and "clean" data by reviewing reports to locate and correct code problems. Work with management, actuaries and underwriters to prioritise business and information needs.
Ensure the business is on track with all the key KPIs - build, maintain and run models to ultimate and pricing models.
Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst in the insurance industry.
Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and databases. Knowledge of statistics is preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
Front line exposure to senior staff and an influential input into the business. In depth training so you can fully understand the business in order to be effective in your job.

Training will be sourced internally or externally. For the right candidate, the client is willing to support your studies towards a professional qualifications such as the ACII or Certified Actuarial Analyst.
Salary: From £40,000 to £60,000 (depending on skill set and experience) + benefits package.
