Are you a health and safety specialist looking to share your knowledge in what is essentially a newly created position? 

The Places for People’s Corporate Estates team is looking to appoint a Health and Safety Manager to join their innovative team. Working closely with our Operational Projects Manager you will help to develop and deliver the Health and Safety provision across the Corporate Estate area of the Group.

What your role will be

You will promote and develop the positive safety culture within the Corporate Estates department so that it can it meets its legal requirements in terms of Health, Safety and Compliance, whilst also assisting and supporting both Strategic and Operational matters relating to Health and Safety planning and management.

Your role will have national coverage, so although you will be based in Preston we require someone that has a flexible approach to travel.

Your background

It is essential that you have previous experience of delivering health and safety within a facilities maintenance environment; you must have in-depth experience within a commercial property setting.  You will hold a minimum of the NEBOSH General Certificate, ideally have NEBOSH Fire safety Certificate, and ideally be a member of IOSH, chartered status preferred.  It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the CDM 2015 regulations, and can act at advisor level with regard to CDM 2015 matters.

Experience and ability to provide basic H&S training is essential in areas such as WAHR , manual handling, risk assessing etc.

Due to the nature of the role we need you to possess strong project and change management skills. You will have experience of working at a senior level and be able to evidence your effective communication style. You will work closely with colleagues, external organisations and decision makers so excellent influencing and contract negotiation skills are required in order to be a success.
