Prospero Teaching are actively seeking an English teacher interested in securing a Head of Department post starting in September 2017.

We are actively seeking a qualified and experienced teacher of English, someone with a solid teaching background and ideally someone who is able to teach upto Key Stage 5 English.

Ideally someone who is currently a key stage coordinator or someone who has experience in a role of responsibility within an English department seeking career progression as well as having proven ability to raise attainment.

The department is established, well-structured and has a strong team of teachers as well as learning support assistants.

You will need to be a leader, someone who buys into the schools ethos, is a clear communicator, has knowledge of AQA and is able to work collaboratively with other departments, Senior Leaders as well as parents and students. Someone creative, positive and engaging.

Extracurricular activities are popular at the school and include a debating club, Literacy Leadership imitative as well as trips to the theatre to bring core GCSE texts to life on stage.

Someone who:
*Qualified English teacher
*Can model excellence in the classroom and deliver excellent outcomes
*Can teach the full age range and ability up to A Level in this subject well and with confidence - support is offered
*Is able to evaluate and improve their impact and effectiveness
*Has a passion for their subject and loves to keep up to date with the latest research
*Has excellent relationships with students and a belief that everyone can succeed
*Will be a great team player and work with other key colleagues to support the research, development, innovation and evaluation of teaching & learning across the school

To be considered you will have:

*Qualified Teacher Status,
*The ability to motivate pupils to achieve excellent examination results,
*A passion for English and the ability to share this with young people
*Excellent classroom management skills
*Excellent organisational and ICT skills
*The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team
*You are a fully qualified teacher (PGCE, QTS, B'ED etc).
*You can provide 2 teaching references within the last 2 years.
*You hold the right to work in the UK.
*You have a DBS or are willing to complete one.
*You have passion for Education.
*You have a provable track record of teaching English at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
