Hamlin Knight is delighted to be working with one of South Yorkshire's most respected SME's in the recruitment of an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This role is based in Sheffield and is accessible from all the surrounding areas of Sheffield as well as Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

Responsibilities/ Duties:

- Work with Operations on major projects to maximise value, manage costs and mitigate risk.
- Ensure all variations, extension of time and cost requests are issued to the client in line with the customer terms and conditions.
- Support Sales in the review of large value quotations and tenders to identify/mitigate risk and review non-standard customer terms and conditions in order to achieve business growth and sales strategy.
- Develop the business commercial awareness by coaching and providing support to the wider business on commercial considerations to increase the ability to identify and deal with matters appropriately.
- Prepare cashflow forecasts for major projects in line with the programme of works to support business cash flow management.
- To manage the application for payment process, by assessing, evaluating and challenging in line with the relevant subcontract agreement.
- Prepare all client facing applications for payment, as required, to ensure timely application and Invoicing to maintain business cash flow position.
- Produce accurate monthly reports to demonstrate current and expected outturn on project and confirmed completed value.
- Review operations in the project to identify areas of costs erosion and work with key stakeholders to implement a solution.
- Ensure that all monies that can be recovered from the contractor via payless notices are administered and protect the company position from client or contractor claims.
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of both internal and customer reports as required to satisfy business needs for MI and client contractual requirements for both MI and KPI information.
- Review variations, where required, to ensure margin position is maintained or improved. Report any highlights and trends to Variations and, or, margin erosion for learning to the business.
- Undertake or assist others in provision of Contract and Commercial briefings to other staff across the business.
- Assist in the handling of claims for costs or damages whether by ad-hoc claims or via Pre Action Protocol.
- Review third party terms and conditions of contract to challenge or ensure they are stepped down to service provider T&C's

The Candidate:

- Sound technical background supported by an understanding of the Utilities connections industry.
- Good communication and team working skills
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Good negotiating skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Contract Experience JCT/NEC
- Driving license required
- Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent

The Package:

- Salary DOE (c. £35-45k)
- Parking onsite
