We are currently working on behalf of a very successful FMCG client that are looking for a career minded ambitious buyer or junior buyer that is looking to develop and progress.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

  • Part of the team responsible for ensuring that customer orders are delivered in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.

  • Responsible for raw material purchasing across group, liaising with several departments over 2 manufacturing sites to ensure on time delivery to the agreed specification.

  • Responsible for Componentry / Packaging spend in certain specific areas.

  • Responsible for negotiation and maintenance of costs within specific categories of spend.

  • Expected to investigate and suggest new suppliers / innovation that will benefit the progression of the team.

  • Form and lead reviews to all Key Suppliers to maintain relationship and quality within the supply chain.

Role Objective

  • Reduce and maintain costs in categories responsible for.

  • Maintain a level of stock that is within agreed parameters.

  • Increase 'Buying Power’ by looking at purchasing synergies across 2 manufacturing sites to enhance savings.

  • Increase and divulge technical knowledge in Raw Materials to improve negotiating skill of the candidate and the wider team.

  • Improve traceability of raw material pricing in order to monitor spends.

Role Responsibilities

  • MRP - focusing on data driven through an MRP system, suggest and place orders using agreed cost and stockhold parameters on a weekly basis.

  • Expedite - To support the Material Expeditor by escalating key issues using influence gained through a relationship with the supplier

  • Purchasing Reports - To justify buying patterns based on agreed business parameters.

  • Tendering - Competitively tender to the agreed supply base, summarising clearly with suggestions.

  • Supply Base - Manage the supply base, including suggesting new suppliers and monitoring performance of poorly performing suppliers.

  • New Production Development - to manage suppliers lead-times through an NPD project using a Critical Path tool to ensure timely delivery, proactively managing the team internally to ensure key deadlines are hit.
