Our client, a science and technology firm based in South Cambridge, is looking for a Finance Assistant to join their expanding team. The objectives for the role are to be the first point of contact for daily incoming accounts relating to general ledgers, ensuring adherence to company finance controls and taking responsibility for the preparation of intercompany reports.

Main duties will include:

Commercial

  • Post Supplier/Sales invoices/Credit notes/Employee expenses
  • Manage Credit Card Payments & reconciliations
  • Manage online banking system, posting & reconciliations in 3 multi-currencies
  • Maintain Purchase Order workflow
  • Manage Credit control in conjunction with Sales function/CFO
  • Answer Supplier/Sales queries & reconcile accounts
  • Prepare and submit payment runs in multi-currency & manage currency transfers
  • Management of company purchasing & document management system

Financial

  • Prepare and post various journals including payroll
  • Maintain system exchange rates and ledger revaluations
  • Manage Fixed Asset register & post depreciation journals
  • Prepare and Post Prepayments & Accruals Journals
  • Prepare and Post VAT/EC Sales List
  • Maintain nominal ledger postings
  • Be the point of contact for non-finance employees
  • Prepare responses and assist in annual audit
  • Responsible for Finance Paperwork filing and archiving
  • Adhoc Finance related requests

Intercompany

  • Agree balances with other parent company subsidiaries
  • Prepare and submit various Corporate reports

Candidates must be experienced users of Sage 200 and/or Sage 50 and must be familiar with online banking systems. Previous experience within a similar role is essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can follow standard operating procedures and that they have the ability to quickly learn new systems and procedures. Candidates must have strong time management skills and a high attention to detail. Candidates will need effective communication skills to communicate across all levels within the company. A logical and methodical approach to work is essential and candidates must be skilled at concentrating and completing repetitive work. Due to location Candidates will need their own transport.
