Commercial Accountant

Leeds

Up to £40k DOE plus benefits including on site parking

A unique opportunity has arisen at this rapidly growing company based on the outskirts of Leeds. Now with a turnover of £40m with still further growth anticipated they are seeking to recruit a commercially focused individual reporting to the Financial Director who will work closely with all departments within the business. This is a Commercial Accountant job for someone from a manufacturing or waste sector background, the role includes business partnering duties so a confident approach is necessary.

Responsible for the provision and interpretation of financial and management information to support and inform the management team in the day to day management of the business including:

  • Quarterly review and update off the cost and pricing model within Zeus ensuring all stream costs are accurately recorded and reconciled to the Management Accounts
  • Establish robust stream profitability reporting, identifying profit improvement opportunities
  • Assisting with the selection and implementation of new systems, processes and procedures
  • Providing financial supporting to the completion of new / renewal of contract tenders, establishing all financial reporting requirements
  • Liaising with the commercial and billing team in ensuring the smooth implementation of new business wins within the Zeus system
  • Working closely with the logistics team to maximise transport efficiencies through the development of existing telematics systems
  • Produce and maintain Profit Improvement Plans and Site KPIs highlighting and reporting on significant deviations to plan
  • Develop, automate and maintenance of a number of bonus schemes in place throughout the Group
  • Assist in the completion of capital expenditure proposals and develop a capital expenditure review process
  • Work closely with the Management Accounts team to ensure consistency of reporting

Key Skills

  • Finalist or recently qualified accountant
  • Highly IT literate with exceptional numerate Excel skills
  • Self-motivated with the drive to find the underlying cause of issues and recommend and help implement solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience of improving the provision of financial and operational information in a commercial or management accounting role
  • Financial modelling skills
