Hours: Mon - Fri 8.30 am-5.30 pm (additional requirements to work occasional evenings or weekends as trade or networking events dictate)

Travel: Extensive UK travel (installers, trade events, Head Office in Cornwall)

The Company

One of the UK’s leading designers and suppliers of domestic and commercial renewable energy storage and management systems is looking to expand its growing team with the recruitment of a UK Technical Sales Manager. As the business continues to develop, this is a pivotal role in helping to drive the business’s ambitious growth plans. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing sales activities across three key revenue streams:

  1. Third party installers
  2. Wholesalers
  3. Utility companies - identifying and developing opportunities with the 'Big 6’ for large scale energy storage and energy management sites (new housing developments, social housing etc.)

The business has a strong brand and an exceptional reputation within the sector and in December 2016 became part of a leading European renewable technology group. With a range of new products scheduled to enter the UK and European markets in Q3 & Q4 of 2017 this represents an exceptional opportunity for a driven and motivated sales professional.

The Role:

Commercial

  • Identifying new trade (wholesaler) partners and developing existing trade customers via direct marketing activity and attending relevant trade events
  • Managing trade customer relationships including the processing of customer orders and alerting them to price promotions or new products
  • Keeping in regular contact with and meeting trade customers (installers) where possible
  • Coordinating with the design team to ensure new and existing customers are receiving the requisite level of technical support
  • Identifying new distribution opportunities for the business

Installer Sales

  • Responding to direct approaches by domestic customers & installers
  • Qualifying leads and approaches by customers
  • Passing on domestic leads to relevant installer partners in other areas of the UK as appropriate
  • Managing the installer sales process from survey through to installation
  • Co-ordinating with the design team in the planning of large commercial installations
  • Completing all requisite sales documentation, including the preparation of installer quotations

General

  • Ensuring the CRM system is kept up to date and making sure all sales activity is logged and documented fully and appropriately
  • Working with the Directors in identifying suitable trade events
  • Ensuring all relevant sales and marketing support information is up to date (including price lists)
  • Working with our marketing partner in the development of new marketing material
  • Liaising with our PR partner
  • Providing input into ongoing product development
  • Feeding back to design team on technical issues relating to products and opportunities for new products or functionality based on the customers’ experiences
  • Working with the Managing Director in ensuring that marketing and social media activity remains innovative and informative
  • Representing the business at networking and trade events including the delivery of presentations when required
  • Attending and presenting at Board and shareholder meetings as required
  • Undertaking any ad hoc duties as required

The Candidate

  • A minimum of 3 years technical sales experience - ideally gained within either the renewables, electrical or electrical engineering sector
  • Commercial awareness and demonstrable trading experience
  • Able to work under pressure and short time frames
  • Quick thinking and decisive
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Highly numerate
  • Flexible, driven and willing to learn
  • Able to work under own initiative
  • Full driving licence is essential and must be able to travel when required
  • A desire to deliver results and the drive to exceed expectations.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Be confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • The ability to multitask
  • Strong ability to control and deliver KPIs : profit, sales
