I am working exclusively with Southampton City Council recruiting for their Intelligence, Insight & Communications team. This public sector organisation is widely known for its service and delivery to the local public. To contribute to the delivery of an effective and integrated communications function, an engagement officer is required to join the team.
Your new role
You will be responsible for leading on a programme of engagement and participation with looked after children and young people and care leavers. This will involve supporting the children in care councils, supporting young people to deliver training for social workers, supporting involvement with the corporate parenting board and engaging looked after children in service changes and developments. The successful candidate will work as with a range of services to deliver effective engagement with children and young people who are in the care of Southampton City Council.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have significant experience of children and young people's participation, as well as an excellent understanding of the social care system. You will also have proven experience of working with a wide range of young people, and the ability to cultivate effective working relationships with them. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and flexible individual, with excellent communication and engagement skills, as well as experience of planning, and anticipating and responding to complex issues with creative solutions.
What you'll get in return
You'll be offered a salary of £23,000 - £27,000 depending upon your experience. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be part of a hardworking and ambitious team with like-minded individuals supporting you.
