Exciting opportunity for a Commodity Manager to join a market leading and growing FMCG organisation based in Northamptonshire. This is a business critical role managing almost 50% of the company spend and responsible for leading the development and implementation of a world-wide sourcing strategy.

My client is a market leading FMCG brand. Over the last 5 years, my client has grown from a £100m turnover business to a £165m turnover business and this exciting growth trajectory is set to continue its upward trend, with plans to move into a new manufacturing facility in 2018.

Description

  • Develop, sell and implement industry leading sourcing models for given commodities
  • Source, manage and develop a capable, safe, efficient, low cost supply base for key commodities
  • Liaise and work with technical function to ensure suppliers are audited, scored and pass all relevant legal and company criteria
  • Develop a supply base to mitigate any risks be it weather/location or competition within supply for those commodities
  • Work closely with and liaise with the expediting team to ensure timely and lowest cost shipment to the business and minimised stock holding
  • Manage the implementation and administration of supplier contracts and scorecards
  • Provide information reports on, stock holding and commitments by line, market trends/pricing projections, purchase price variances
  • Develop, champion and sell ideas and changes to deliver business benefit and show tenacity to deliver results in challenging environment

Profile

  • Extensive purchasing experience across both single and multi-site operations
  • Managing vertically integrated supply chains
  • Designing, implementing and managing commodity source strategies removing agents and getting close to source
  • Experience interfacing with retailers
  • Managing farm gate commodities and dealing with grower/producers implementing buying strategies and relationship development/management
  • Strong process background to contribute to the development of the purchasing department
  • Communicate effectively and confidently with customers
  • Fully IT literate on all Microsoft packages
  • Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail
  • Ideally an understanding of ERP systems
  • Drive and ambition

Job Offer

£60,000 - £80,000 + car allowance, bonus, pension and private healthcare
