An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Supply Chain department for a Commodity Manager. This position reports into the Senior Procurement Manager and based in Kilmarnock.

My client is a global market leader within its respective industry and designs, engineers, manufactures, sells, and services an exciting portfolio of equipment that is among the most comprehensive in the industry.


The Commodity Manager has responsibility for the on-going management of Global and Regional suppliers with a purchase spend in excess of $50m. This will include:

Maintenance and support of Global and/or Regional Sourcing Strategies

Negotiation of pricing and terms that meet company annual objectives

Responsibility for managing the business relationships with suppliers, including resolution of escalated quality and delivery issues

Implementation of Global Procurement programmes, including: Annual Cost Reviews, Annual Process Reviews, Annual Scorecards

Negotiation and maintenance of Master Supply Agreements within areas of responsibility

Taking the lead role for sourcing / outsourcing of production materials

Providing support concerning commercial issues for new product development projects

Participation in Global Sourcing Strategies

Capability and risk assessment of assigned suppliers


Minimum degree qualified in engineering or business related discipline (Masters' preferred)

Minimum 8 years procurement or related experience in a commercial environment

Broad technical understanding of heavy manufacturing industry.

Proven skills in purchasing, negotiation and problem resolution

Excellent communications skills

Relentless focus on excellence and continuous improvement

Must be capable of working in a highly matrix reporting environment
