Business Development Manager

Position: Business Development Manager 
Location: Glasgow 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent with Probationary period 
Salary: £35k plus commission

About the role: 

The Business Development Manager will develop sales pan Scotland from multi sector approach. The key objective being to identify and secure larger, longer term opportunities that will support all Scottish depots. 

You'll work as a trusted and integral team member reporting directly to the Director, responsible for researching new business opportunities and finding new clients, leveraging the company reputation and your own industry contacts to best effect. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

- Forging and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts in existing and new accounts 
- Developing opportunities to cross-sell products to existing clients 
- Tender support and submissions 
- Maintaining an accurate and ongoing sales pipeline 
- Strategic brainstorming and implementation of new business development initiatives 
- Developing and leveraging the company’s branding and professional profile. 

About you: 

Exceptional sales and customer service skills are key to success in this role. With previous field sales experience and a full UK driving licence, you will have good IT literacy and presentation skills. Service industry or reactive maintenance experience is also vital to the role. 

Experience within the Drainage / Construction / Civil Engineering / Waste or Utilities industries would be an advantage but a desire to learn the product range and apply your experience is vital 

Skill and experience: 

- Minimum four years of previous experience in a BDM or project management role within the engineering or construction sectors 
- A proven ability to plan, develop and execute business development strategies 
- Experience in risk analysis 
- A good understanding of contract law 
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team 
- Proven ability to develop and implement B2B sales strategies 
- Excellent communication, listening and presentation skills 
- Strong background in negotiating, tendering and estimating
