Kind Consultancy is working with a multinational banking organisation who are seeking a Privacy Manager to join their UK Compliance team in Manchester. Reporting in to the Head of Privacy, the Privacy Manager will provide second line specialist guidance, advice and support to the business on privacy laws, regulations and legislation, ensuring all areas of the business implement, develop and fully comply with necessary measures to protect customers, colleagues, third parties and prospects.

Key responsibilities of the Privacy Manager role will include;

  • Providing advice to a wide range of business areas on all legal requirements of the Data Protection Act and equivalent privacy laws, the Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and all amendments and the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation
  • Advising business areas on how to comply with and apply privacy related policies and standards as set by the company
  • Design and develop Privacy tools, guidance and risk-based approaches that can be used across the organisation for maximum benefit, making sure staff understand what is required of them and help to deliver compliant solutions first time
  • Maintain a network of stakeholders across the organisation in order to provide relevant privacy advice and contacts
  • Communicate any regulatory changes in an easily understood, logical manner
  • Work alongside the Senior Management Team to manage the transition to new Data Privacy requirements as they arise
  • Maintain thorough logs and records evidencing work volumes and progress as required - including breaches, incident reporting, ICO Assessements and approvals
  • Maintain up to date Data Privacy legal and regulatory knowledge, ensuring your ongoing capability as a subject matter expert
  • Provide advice on the remediation of any breaches, taking into account root cause, monitoring high risk incidents through to closure

Our ideal candidate for the Privacy Manager position:

  • Has experience in a Privacy role within an international corporation, with strong knowledge of how international privacy obligations are met within the private sector
  • Has substantial experience of advising on UK Privacy requirements
  • Has experience of handling Privacy and Confidentiality requirements in a Credit, Retail, Wealth and/or Corporate environment
  • Has experience of data breach management
  • Thrives in a fast moving business environment and is capable of rapidly making decisions taking into account business objectives and commercial requirements
  • Is a strong communicator, able to advise and manage stakeholders across different levels
  • Has a very strong understanding of the relevant Privacy requirements relating to Subject Access Requests, marketing, digital and online privacy issues
  • Has a well-developed understanding of Privacy issues arising in relation to the use of enterprise-wide technology, and of risk and the role of risk in Privacy compliance
  • Holds a Professional Privacy Certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP IT/E/G) or equivalent - other information rights, information governance, law and IT qualifications will be considered
