As a result of a focus on profitable growth and sustained investment in its market leading technical communications solutions, my client has an excellent vacancy for a Manufacturing Manager / Operations Manager. You will possess good people skills and proven operations experience is required to manage the day to day manufacturing production activities to ensure that orders are scheduled, delivered on time, and that production targets are met. The production side is heavily based around metal working in many shapes and forms, from CNC, to milling, sawing, painting, welding.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Manufacturing / Operations Manager with a broad range of skills, seeking to become part of an international and well respected manufacturing company. You will report straight in to the Managing Director.

Day to day duties;

Manage manufacturing production planning schedules to ensure deadlines are met and on time delivery to customer requests are achieved.

Continually manage, develop and motivate the manufacturing team.

Liaison with Heads of Departments to ensure production support is provided.

Report on planning and production status to the Management Team by attending monthly meetings.

Maintain consistency of quality and to improve both efficiency and cost savings.

Establishment and maintenance of best practice shop floor layout and working practices, and embedding a continuous improvement culture on the shop floor.

Ensure that Lean manufacturing principles are maintained and improved.

Manage cost estimations to the Sales team.

Essential skills;

A manufacturing / production background.within engineering
Knowledge, experience and proven ability of problem solving tools and techniques.
Maintaining and improving the adoption of Lean manufacturing applications.
Track record of improving processes and implementing key improvement measures.
Experience in a managerial role reporting at high level.
Strong computer skills ideally with experience of ERP software systems, MRP and Bills of material within an engineering manufacturing environment.
Strong people and team management skills.
Strong organisation and planning skills.
Ability to prioritise changing and competing demands and tasks.
Ability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
A positive attitude and a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and become hands-on if and when required
You will be at a distinct advantage if you have prior experience of working in an environment such as metal working (including CNC, milling, sawing, painting, welding) and/or assembly.
