FINANCE SYSTEMS MANAGER
An exciting opportunity has arisen at a well-established mid-tier law firm with a fantastic reputation in its markets for a Finance Systems Manager. This could be the perfect opportunity for someone looking to make the step up from an Analyst role into a managerial position. It could also be a great opportunity for someone looking to move into an Elite-based systems environment who hasn't had much exposure that that system beforehand. Reporting into the Financial Controller and with an Analyst reporting into it, this is the most senior finance systems in the firm. It is a key strategic position in the finance division and forms part of its management team.
The role's purpose is to manage and support the maintenance and continue developing the firm's existing finance systems, MI and reporting. It involves working closely with IT and Finance to design and implement new systems as part of the firm's 20-20 vision. This will include a transformation of the existing MI reporting to bring the firm up to best practice and ensure alignment with firm strategy. The ongoing integration of finance systems that arise as part of the firm's strategy to look at opportunities for potential bolt-ons and working with external providers to review and ensure that the finance reporting tools are adopted to meet the requirements of the firm are also an essential part of the role.
Other responsibilities include Delivery of existing financial MI to the firm using SQL or SSRS; developing specific proposals on how existing finance systems functionality can be used to improve the services provided by finance teams; managing the internal relationship between Finance and IT to provide enhanced reporting across the firm including inter alia, budgeting, planning, forecasting, monthly management accounts, yearend financial reporting; proposing and delivering improved daily and weekly operating reports to enable partners, fee earners and Business Services Heads to better understanding the drivers of business performance; data Management and ensure Data Integrity of all financial information; and promoting and introducing systems that benefit the Finance Department, fee earners and the wider practice. There is line management responsibility for the Finance Systems Analyst and there will be a lot of cooperation with the project team, either leading or assisting engagement of any new finance systems. The role involves reviewing, revising and documenting the team's operating procedures and working practices to ensure that they are efficient and effective in meeting the department's / firm's goals as well as developing the Financial Systems and Procedures to ensure we are compliant and are using the systems to the best of the firm's ability.
Applicants should have 5-10 years finance systems experience preferably in a law firm or large professional services environment. Previous management is experience is an advantage but not a pre-requisite as is Elite Enterprise. An accounting qualification would be preferable. Strong change and project management experience would be very beneficial. This is a senior, strategic position which requires a strong communicator who is comfortable dealing with senior-level stakeholders.
