This position is a job share on 4 / 3 day alternate weeks on a rota basis, including some Saturdays.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our Handy Person team. The Handy Person service is contracted by Derbyshire County Council to deliver a range of small repairs, install assistive technology and undertake home fire safety checks, installing smoke detectors where applicable.
The service is predominately for people over the age of 60 living in Southern Derbyshire. The position available is to work in the districts of Amber Valley and the south of Derbyshire Dales.
The successful candidate will mainly work alone, however there will be occasions when 2 operatives will be required to undertake work, i.e. moving furniture to facilitate hospital discharge. Operatives will be responsible for their time management, making initial contact with clients to arrange appointments and planning their journeys to ensure value for money is delivered.
You will be organised, able to provide accurate records of
jobs completed, mileage records and time sheets. Experience of delivering repairs and handyperson tasks is required, an established trade background and experience of working with vulnerable people would be desirable.
We are looking for excellent communication, customer service skills and a good standard of IT skills is required.
Please be aware that holding a full UK driving license is essential to this role as a vehicle will be provided for business use.
- Skills based experience and training, normally obtained over a period including practical experience of jobbing and repair works following a full craft apprenticeship
- Empathy with client group
- Occasional extra hours may be required to be worked, as notified
- Willing to undertake trade and personal development training as requested
- Have an established trade background
Please note the salary is pro-rota to the hours worked.
