Newlife Healthcare Recruitment are proud to be supporting a large, national client who provides support for thousands of people with learning and physical disabilities, brain injuries, autism and other needs throughout the UK.

They offer person centred care and support in a range of settings, and have experience of enabling people to move from a residential setting to a more independent supported living environment as their needs change. Their mission is to create an environment that promotes independence and positive outcomes to make a real difference to people’s lives.

With over 400 care homes and 20 rehabilitation centres across the country, they offer a range of specialist services such as supported living and outreach support, residential services, respite services, day services, brain injury rehabilitation and Intensive support services.


Our client is looking to appoint a Service Manager for their service based in Bedford. This is a brand-new purpose built service, where care and support is given to 6 individuals with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The service is very close to Bedford town centre.

The facility offers residents spacious shared areas to take part in activities and socialise as well as offering a fully equipped multi-sensory room.

As the Service Manager, you will be the Registered Manager for the service. You will lead a care team to ensure the highest standards of support are delivered in the service. You will ensure your team promote person-centred care and support to residents to achieve their goals in life and develop their skills and confidence through a variety of staff involvement, activities and other initiatives.

The Service Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager and will work as part of a wider team of Service Manager / Home Managers. It is essential that you have previous experience of working with adults with learning disabilities or physical disabilities or complex needs.

Ideally, you will hold the Registered Managers Award or Level 5 Diploma, or equivalent qualification.

As a Service Manager, you will have experience in the following:

  • Care management with experience of working in the learning disabilities sector
  • Excellent knowledge of care standards and regulations
  • Commercially aware and ideally some experience of managing budgets
  • Attending meetings with external bodies, families and service review meetings
  • Dealing with client referrals, assessments, service reviews
  • Oversee and writing of care plans, report writing
  • Leading and developing a team
