Innovation Manager - London

Salary £40,000 plus additional benefits

This is a key role with a major train operator in the UK, operating about 10 per cent of the UK passenger rail network through five rail contracts. The UK Trains Division employs around 6,500 people. They are a growing organisation with a strong innovation drive. The Innovation Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering Innovation throughout the business. As a group, they are identifying and seeking opportunities to identify and develop innovative new services, processes and products which will improve customer experience.

Innovation is crucial to their development the post holder will work with individuals across the business to identify in-house pipeline schemes and to identify how external funding can be appropriately secured and distributed, ensuring that projects are delivered on-time and that the benefits are documented.

They see that innovation throughout our businesses is vital to preparing them to meet future challenges and the emerging needs of customers and clients. They are the most successful UK Rail operator in gaining external innovation funding and now face the challenge of delivering innovative projects throughout our businesses at the same time as defining and developing future projects which will bring the next big change.

Based in London, the Strategy and Policy team are made up of highly specialised technical professionals and they develop the strategy and support its delivery throughout the business and also support the bid team to secure further franchises. Sustaining existing business is also crucial, and maintaining our existing franchises is a key component of what they do.

The Innovation Manager is responsible for managing and delivering Innovation throughout the business. As a group, they are identifying and seeking opportunities to identify and develop innovative new services, processes and products which will improve our customer experience. Experience:

  • Experience of working in a project delivery environment, including monthly reporting to client bodies
  • Experience of building networks and establishing and sustaining professional working relationships
  • Experience of organising and leading internal meetings
  • Experience in identifying and sustaining professional relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders with different opinions and views
  • Experience of networking extensively to build effective business partnerships
  • Experience of influencing stakeholders

Knowledge:
