About the role
We are seeking an individual to manage and develop our commitment to Customer Focus Excellence through the provision of an efficient and effective level of customer engagement, consultation and customer care service. The service required within this role is to manage the Communications for the Highway Service including line management of a communications team.
The role of a Communication Manager is central to the achievement of a positive public view of Re and its Local Authority partners and the services it delivers. The successful candidate therefore needs to hold the relevant skills and display the necessary personal qualities as outlined in the Job Description and Personal Specification.
Re (Regional Enterprise Limited) is a joint venture between the London Borough of Barnet and Capita to run the Council's development and regulatory services for the next ten years. The JV went 'live' on 1st October 2013 and will deliver growth in the Borough and develop a new and exciting consultancy business, which will supplement the core activities.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
To promote Re's Highway services, design and manage all reactive and proactive communications with stakeholders for Highway services
To ensure that the appropriate channels and methods of communications are sought and utilised in order to effectively communicate with target audiences
To regularly report on Highway Service performance in relation to engagement and communication in order to help build trust in our services for both contractual requirements with existing stakeholder and client and for service development
To manage the Resident Liaison and Member Service functions within the Highways Service and ensure an efficient, responsive and polite manner is taken
To be the single point of contact for MPs, City Mayor, Members, partner agencies and wider community representatives in relation to service delivery across the Local Authority Partnerships;
To attend and represent Re at partner or community based meetings, as required (may require evening and weekend attendance);
To work together with the relevant officers, both within Re, Capita and Local Authority Partnerships to identify any service standard improvement opportunities and improve efficiency;
To manage and supervise communications prepared by the Highways service to all stakeholders in order to ensure they are prepared and delivered within agreed target times, in a courteous and professional manner;
Your experience will include:
Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and manage engagement with Council Members, partner agencies, community representatives, Neighbourhood Managers, residents, businesses and colleagues by e-mail, telephone, face to face and at public meetings in a confident and professional manner.
Capable of addressing groups of stakeholders, speak confidently and present information concisely.
Excellent verbal and written communicator, with the ability to readily take ownership of problems, and act quickly to manage and achieve resolution through positive communication.
Excellent IT and organisational skills and ability to find innovative solutions to arising problems.
Proficient use of varied software for displaying and sharing information
Willingness to 'go the extra mile' and be persistent in achieving answers.
Ability to use own initiative to seek out potentially non-traditional routes to resolution of raised queries.
Ability to document and maintain accurate records for a variety of purposes and formats.
Occasional out of normal hours working.
