Financial Controller - London

Prestigious sports business who have recently gone through a period of business transformation, are now looking for a Financial Controller to join their London based finance function. The newly created role reports into the CFO and will lead teams across financial reporting, treasury, tax, financial operations and internal audit. The role will suit a qualified accountant who is an experienced manager and has ideally had exposure to the sports/leisure industry.

The Role -

  • Oversee the production of the monthly management accounts for cash flow and balance sheets.

  • Responsible for forecasting and budgeting group cash flow and balance sheets.

  • Maintain the group’s Fixed Asset registers.

  • To lead the financial year-end process including the preparation of financial statements for group and its subsidiaries

  • Run the annual external group audit process. Responsible for ensuring that recommended improvements and actions are implemented in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for continuous improvement of group financial controls.

  • Managing the company’s cash and net debt position.

  • Manage the outsourced internal audit function to focus on key risks of the Group.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the payroll and benefits function.

  • Oversee the tax affairs of the group and ensure tax compliance in all areas is efficiently managed.

  • Ensures the accurate maintenance and controls across all areas of the group’s receivables ledgers and credit control/collection.

  • Ensures timely payment of all invoices received by the group, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and adhered to.

The Person -

  • Qualified accountant with appropriate technical skills, and up to date with relevant best practice and legislation.

  • Significant experience operating at a senior level, including board exposure.

  • Experience building, leading and managing a team, delivering high standards of performance.

  • Tax and treasury experience.

  • Working in a sporting/leisure organisation.
