We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our Neurosurgery department based at our facility in in St Johns Wood, London (NW8 9LE).

Our state of-the-art 18 bedded acute neurosurgical & neurological unit provides expert care for patients with neurological conditions including head/spinal cord injuries, brain tumours and cranial nerves.


Job Description

As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing all aspects of patient care through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

* This position is full time, permanent working 37.5 hours per week.

* The shifts include long days, either earlie's (8:00 - 20:30) or late's (20:00 - 8:30).

* The projected salary range is £35,673 - £40,401 per annum, plus 9% shift enhancements and a comprehensive benefits package on top.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Work within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for the Sister / Charge Nurse in their absence.

* Act as a clinical role model for all members of staff, driving high standards of care and assisting with coaching and development of the team.

* Manage patient caseload effectively, prioritising care effectively.

* Initiate improvements and developments in clinical issues and delivery of care.

* Contributing to the ongoing research based care and other practice development initiatives.


Skills & Experience

* Registered General Nurse with post graduate experience.

* Leadership/mentoring experience.

* Proven Surgical, Neurosurgery or Spinal surgery experience.

* Motivated and forward thinking individual.

* Excellent communication skills with good time management skills and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
