About the Role
The Admissions and Transport team is responsible for ensuring that the Council discharges its statutory responsibilities with regard to School Admissions and Home to School Transport.
In this new and varied role, you will take responsibility for tracking school applications up to the date that children start school. This will involve managing the process for recording starters/leavers and identifying any children who may be missing education. You will also assist with the fair access, admission appeals, complaints and freedom of information processes. It will be necessary for you to possess good communication skills as you will be advising a variety of stakeholders on the team’s policies and procedures.
You will also be involved in progressing casework and making decisions which will affect the lives of Surrey residents. Good organisational skills and the ability to assess risk are therefore essential. In addition to this, you should be an experienced leader with a good understanding of the legislation governing admissions, appeals and home to school transport. Capable of interpreting customer needs and managing their expectations, you will effortlessly handle difficult or sensitive situations.
You should also possess good IT, presentation and problem solving skills, combining these with an ability to manage your own and others' workloads.
