Immediate requirement for a Senior SHEQ Manager to join a successful Facilities Management company. HOME-BASED - UK TRAVEL


Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the company strategy in line with the objectives and direction of the Healthcare and Education BU.

The Senior SHEQ Manager will interpret this strategy to best suit the Healthcare and Education Business Unit in conjunction with the Head of SHEQ. They shall contribute to `improving SHEQ performance within the Healthcare and Education sector and for leading a team of SHEQ Managers/Advisors and their workload.

They will deputise for the Head of SHEQ and take the lead on delegated projects. They will work closely with the Healthcare and Education Leadership Team outputs to contribute to development of an annual Zero Harm plan and strategy to improve safety performance and manage high potential risks related to the Healthcare and Education BU.

Where necessary they will support all lost time incident investigations, ensuring the prompt closure of all actions related to these incidents. They shall contribute to monthly reports and policy/guidance/ operating procedure development to support operational delivery of all quality, health and safety and environmental initiatives.


Carry out internal audits to ensure standards are met and setting audit plan for future years using appropriate technology as well as ensuring findings are agreed with sites, timely entered on audit system and reports are clear concise and easily understood. Number of dates per site is commensurate with risk
Clear understands the standards set in the various ISO accreditations
Demonstrates a good knowledge of H&S and Environmental legislation
Develop, agree and maintain a clear development strategy and Zero Harm plan for SHEQ within area of responsibility
Develop and communicate contract specific SHEQ objectives
Work with Healthcare and Education Senior Leadership Team to develop specific BU objectives in line with the business plan
Ensure SHEQ capability / awareness is maximised across all staff levels under control
Deputise for Head of SHEQ as required
Ensure that Operational Management is kept up to date on all new legislation and best practice
Develop audit protocols and training material to meet strategic business objectives for SHEQ
Produce business cases where required for SHEQ projects
Level 5 qualification in occupational health and safety management
Membership of an appropriate professional body
Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent)
Qualified to lead auditor level in OHSAS 18001 and/or ISO 9001 with extensive experience of leading audit programmes
Broad experience within the Facilities Management sector and the Healthcare and Education environment
The position is home-based with UK travel.
