Role- Lead / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary- £40,000- £55,000 per annum (please advise what you would be looking for)

Type- Permanent

Location- Wiltshire

My client design and manufacture special purpose equipment for different industries and they are looking to take on a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Wiltshire area.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a similar related discipline
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles
  • Be Chartered or ideally working towards Chartership
  • Previous experience on working on the design of special purpose machinery
  • Being able to support all design work with the appropriate calculations
  • Have a good amount of Industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency with using 3D CAD software (Ideally Autodesk Inventor although other programmes may also be considered)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience working in either the Oil & Gas, Chemical or Energy sector ideal
  • Strong leadership skills with an interest in being involved in management
  • Have the ability to solve problems and evaluate solutions within deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills are required

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Being the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer in the team producing engineering solutions
  • Working on a variety of engineering projects
  • Supporting the Mechanical Design Team Leader as required
  • Being involved in both Validation and Verification activities
  • Designing plant layout and also schematic drawings for projects (Pre-FEED)
  • Providing input when required for project planning and execution
  • Producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings using Inventor
  • Always working on developing and improving design procedures
  • Participating in Hazard studies (HAZOP and carrying out design FMEAs)
