The major objectives of the Assessments Operations Manager are:

To contribute to the achievement of the AAT Business Plan objectives by:

  • Leading the Assessments Operations section and managing the performance of staff
  • Ensuring effective and efficient operational support to the assessment marking process
  • Ensuring the effective operation of certification
  • Ensuring the effective operation of reasonable adjustments
  • Ensuring the effective operation of appeals
  • Reporting against any assigned KPIs

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead the Operations section, providing clear direction and support, motivating staff and seeking excellence in all areas
  • Manage the Operations section, recruiting and training as necessary to ensure that all staff have the appropriate skills to perform effectively and undertake continuous personal and professional development
  • Consult regularly with the Head of Assessments to develop clear objectives and plans for the section, and to manage resources effectively in meeting key targets

Marking

  • Recruit, maintain and performance manage the appropriate numbers of markers to deliver results accurately and on time
  • Ensure all markers are appropriately trained, in liaison with Product Development
  • Manage the operational and logistical support for all marking and standardisation
  • Manage the provision of appropriate facilities, including meeting rooms, hardware, software and communications for the marking process
  • Maintain the processes and associated documentation for marking to ensure that they are relevant, accurate and up-to-date
  • Liaise with other departments in the Division as necessary around the marking process

Certification

  • To manage the student certification process, including the printing and fulfilment contract with a supplier.
  • To ensure AAT is compliant with regulations applying to certification of all new qualifications.
  • To ensure AAT is compliant with regulations applying to changes to the certification of existing qualifications.

Reporting assessment results to external bodies

  • Manage the process for the reporting of assessment results to the Learning Records Service (LRS) in accordance with the LRS policy and requirements.

Reasonable Adjustments

  • Manage the operation and execution of the reasonable adjustments policy
  • Ensure that the policy, processes and associated documentation for reasonable adjustments are relevant, accurate, compliant and reviewed regularly
  • Report to Head of Assessments on all reasonable adjustments as required

Appeals

  • Manage the operation and execution of the appeals policy
  • Ensure that the processes and associated documentation for appeals is relevant, accurate, compliant and reviewed regularly
  • Report to the Head of Assessments on all appeals as required

Budgeting and financial control

  • Manage the preparation, delivery and administration
